Apply for Co-Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Patient-Reported Outcomes by 15 May

The International Society for Quality of Life Research (ISOQOL) is seeking applicants for the position of Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Patient Reported Outcomes (JPRO). JPRO began publishing articles in September 2017. It is an open-access online-only journal that focuses on:

PROs in clinical trials. Results and methodology for PROs in clinical trials and other clinical studies.

PROs in clinical practice. Methods and applications of PROs in clinical practice, including individual patient management and using PRO results from comparative studies.

Patient, family, community, and public engagement. Methods to engage patients, family members, and members of the general public in the process of PRO-related research, policy formulation, and clinical guidelines development, and the evaluation of the effects of such engagement.

Qualitative studies on the development and application of PROs. Application, innovation, and best practices in qualitative and mixed methods in the development and use of PRO measures.

Studies of the social and behavioral determinants of health using PRO measures. Observational studies with PRO content.

Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs). Factors which may impact the experiences of patients, as well as their families, caregivers and healthcare providers. Innovative methods of capturing and analyzing patient experiences.

Other papers. JPRO will consider original research and review articles, brief communications, commentaries, editorials, and reviews of recent books and software advances relevant to topics 1 through 6, above.

Eligibility

The newly selected Co-Editor-in-Chief will work with Co-Editor-in-Chief, Chih-Hung Chang, to manage the JPRO. Currently the Associate Editors of the JPRO are Jill Carlton, John Devin Peipert, Caroline Potter, Jessica Roydhouse, and Joanne Greenhalgh.

The applicant should have:

  • A strong scientific background in patient-centered outcomes research
  • A commitment to a rigorous and equitable peer-review
  • Must be an active ISOQOL member
  • Be able to commit approximately 15 hours per week to the journal
  • Experience as journal editors (Editor-in-Chief, Associate editor, deputy editor, or equivalent)
  • Experience reviewing for the JPRO and/or its sister journal Quality of Life Research is highly desirable

The Co-Editor-in-Chief will receive an annual stipend for a term beginning in July 2022 through 31 December 2025.
