Equivalences Subgroup

The "Equivalences" subgroup is led by Sonya Eremenco . The objective of this group is the collection and review of existing classifications of equivalences and applications through concrete examples.

Main Objectives

• Creation of a database of response choices across languages
• Collection and review of existing classification of equivalences (through literature review)
• Analysis of equivalences of different items
• Review of cognitive debriefing methodology to achieve conceptual equivalence across languages

Methods

• Creation of a database of response choices across languages
• 3 step process:
  1. Identify prominent instruments and important rating scales
  2. Collect respective translations for rating scales
  3. Make this database of translations available to ISOQOL members via the website

Update of Activities

• 1st results of the database of response choices: FACIT response scale.

Future Steps

• EORTC response scale in progress
• Continue working with subgroup members to compile other scales
• Post the final documents to ISOQOL website
