ISOQOL President’s Award
Deadline for Nominations: May 31 of each year
The goal of this award is to recognize outstanding contributions (by an individual or group) to the advancement of the quality of life field in one or more of the following areas: "education of professionals, patients or lay individuals about the value of quality of life assessment as related to health"; "promotion or execution of quality of life research or other scholarly activities"; and "facilitating or furthering policy initiatives that impact upon health-related quality of life." The winner may be given the opportunity to give a 20-minute plenary during the Annual Meeting.
Please submit your nomination package consisting of
- a letter from the nominator specifying the nominee's contributions,
- the curriculum vitae of the nominee, and
- an external support letter.

The award will be selected by the ISOQOL Executive Committee and approved by the Board of Directors. The award will consist of a plaque, a $1000 honorarium and up to $1000 in travel expenses if the recipient plans to attend the Annual Conference.

Student/New Investigators' Award
ISOQOL is committed to promoting excellence in quality of life research. Therefore, the Student/New Investigators' Award program (formerly the Young Investigators' Award) will recognize a maximum of eight qualified students and eight qualified new investigators as finalists. The final award selections will recognize the best overall oral and poster presentations made by full-time students and post-doctoral individuals in the early stages of their career in QOL research (a maximum of four awards annually). Student applicants must be enrolled in a full-time program. At the time of abstract submission, new investigator applicants must be within 5 years of the end of their position as full time student or postdoctoral fellow.

AWARDS The Harry A. Guess - Merck Scholarship for Pharmacoepidemiology at UNC Catherine Pouget Research Award With the aim of improving the quality of life and/or health care of patients who are terminally ill, the Mapi Research Institute awards an annual prize for research having this objective. Applicants for the Catherine Pouget award may include studnets, degree candidates, fellows, or faculty members early in their research. The Mapi Research selection committee will consider a wide range of research projects whose results are likely to improve the quality of life and/or the health care of the terminally ill. Apprpriate research projects would include studies of the impact of interventions on the quality of life of the terminally ill and studies of measures and determinants of quality of life and patients and/or families perspectives about the quality of care and/or life experiences. Applications for this annual award should be submitted by September 30. The maximum amount that will be funded is $10,000 for work to be completed within a period not to exceed two years. Interim and final reports are expected within 3 months of the first and second years of work. Application information and forms can be downloaded from the Mapi Research Institute website. |
