Presenter Guidelines

Oral Presentations

All oral sessions are 90 minutes and contain four or five individual presentations.  Each presenter is allotted approximately 13 minutes to present their research and to answer questions from the audience. ISOQOL recommends allocating 10 minutes to present and 3 minutes for questions. The Session Chair will introduce presenters and, if time permits, facilitate discussion questions following the presentations. Presentation order will be listed in the final program.

Your "Assigned Presentation ID Number" (104.3, 105.6, 108.2 etc.) indicates the order in which you will present. For example, in Oral Session 101, the order of presentations will be as follows:

101.1 (13 minutes)
101.2 (13 minutes)
101.3 (13 minutes)
101.4 (13 minutes)
101.5 (13 minutes)

Please arrive to your session 10 -15 minutes early to upload your presentation, check the equipment, and allow for ample time for AV technician support in the instance of a technical difficulty.

Creating an Effective Oral Presentation

Visually appealing slides enhance an oral presentation. Strategies for creating effective slides include:

  • Incorporate graphics, tables, and graphs
  • Use dark colored text on a light background for readability ease
  • Limit the number of slides to a maximum of 10-15 per presentation
  • Avoid text heavy slides
  • Include a slide containing your name and contact information at the end of the presentation.

Poster Presentations

Poster presenters should prepare a brief three (3) to five (5) minute presentation and be prepared to discuss their research with their peers. Poster sessions are minutes in length. Presenters must stand in front of their posters during the dedicated presentation time for their assigned poster session.

Poster Display Schedule

All posters should be displayed for duration of the session in which they are assigned (see schedule below). Presenters are responsible for setting up and removing posters during the specified set-up and removal times. Posters that are not removed by the end of the scheduled removal time will be placed on a table in the back of the poster hall. Any posters left at the end of the conference will be discarded.

Quality of Life Research Journal Abstract Supplement

Abstracts for accepted presentation will be printed in the Quality of Life Research Journal Abstract Supplement, so long as the presenter confirms their intent to present by 25 June 2018. Presenters who do not confirm before 25 June run the risk of not having their abstracts included in the Abstract Supplement.
